Vinum

Once again this year, with a seductive perfume of violets, herbs, dark and red berries; on the palate precise, fresh and lively, with silky tannins, crisp fruit, wonderfully balanced, full of charm and with very good length. Buying tip!

Decanter

Crisp and fresh red fruits on the nose. Crunchy and bright, quite high‑toned, with licks of wet stone giving a truly mineral undertone. Lean and salty, but with pristine fruit and a sense of clarity. A little strict and tense but well constructed. Juicy, succulent and really easy. Unfussy, straight and fine. Ageing 14 months, 35% French oak, 60% concrete, 5% amphora. 42 hl/ha yield.

The 2023 Siaurac has a well-defined bouquet, the fruit blacker than from barrel, with blackberry, briar and a touch of tobacco. The palate is medium-bodied with black fruit, a little grainy in texture, but this attenuates towards the finish, with a very slight vegetal touch on the aftertaste.

Flowers, tobacco, cherries, mint, and herbs pop in the nose. The palate is medium-bodied, fresh, elegant, and already accessible. It is easy to find the freshness in the plums, and cherries with their chocolate accent. The soft-textures in the mid-palate, and in the finish seal the deal. You can open this with pleasure on release , and for more than a decade. The wine is a blend of 65% Merlot, 28% Cabernet Franc, and 7% Malbec. Drink from 2026-2036.

Dark ruby colour, purple reflections, brightening on the rim. Floral, fresh cherries, a hint of cloves, candied orange zest. Medium body, fresh wild berries, fine fruit expression, juicy, round tannins, fresh structure, sweet cherries on the finish, a balanced, uncomplicated food wine.

Beautiful violet reflections, love the lift and the sap here, great quality, easy to love, showing tons of lift and juice. Austere at this early point, reflecting a Lalande with ambition, plenty to recommend. Made by the same team as Calon Ségur in St Estèphe, director Vincent Millet. director.

With excellent clarity, the bouquet of Siaurac reveals notes of peonies, blueberries and sweet spices. A silky opening sets the stage for a wine focused on elegance, harmony and freshness. The tannins, perfectly integrated, are matched by acidity that is both structuring and refreshing, providing a solid backbone. A savoury, juicy wine that can already be enjoyed in its youth.

The nose is concentrated but initially closed. After aeration, it reveals tangy black-fruit aromas (blackcurrant, wild blackberry, blueberry, black plum, wild strawberry) and crushed raspberry. Then come notes of liquorice, menthol, fresh wood, chocolate, white pepper, nutmeg and vanilla in the background, with touches of violet and peony. The palate is silky, textured and chocolatey. It shows flavours of morello cherry, blackberry, blackcurrant, wild strawberry and liquorice, with chocolate and a toasted hint on a gourmand finish. Good persistence on notes of chocolate-covered cherry, violet and peony.

Ripe red and black fruits, leafy herbs, and tobacco all emerge from the 2023 Château Siaurac, a beautiful Lalande de Pomerol based on 65% Merlot, 28% Cabernet Franc, and 7% Malbec that was aged 14 months in 60% concrete tanks, 35% oak barrels, and 5% amphora. Medium-bodied, it has a soft, supple mouthfeel, ripe tannins, and a good finish. Drink this charming, balanced, satisfying effort over the coming 8-10 years. Drink 2026-2033.
