The richness and refinement of a rich, suave Piedmont wine
The estate
Located in the village of La Morra, the Cordero di Montezemolo estate is an emblematic reference in the Langhe winegrowing area, in northern Piedmont, Italy.
The vineyard
Cordero di Montezemolo oversees nearly 51 hectares of vineyards planted on exceptional Italian terroirs in Piedmont. The estate’s wines are recognized beyond its borders for their complexity, power, and great aging potential.
The wine
Monfalletto by Cordero di Montezemolo is crafted from a selection of multiple vineyards in the Barolo appellation. Situated between 250 and 300 meters in altitude and facing southwest to southeast, this terroir of more than 13 hectares, with vines roughly 10 to 50 years old, is rooted in soils rich in magnesium and manganese, composed of silt, clay, and sand.
Winemaking and aging
Hand-harvested from late September to early October depending on the vintage. Fermentation and maceration in stainless steel tanks for about 10 days. Racking followed by malolactic fermentation in French and Slavonian oak barrels of various sizes. Aged 19 to 22 months in barrels depending on the lot. Blended, then given an additional year of bottle aging before release.
