The estate
In the heart of the breathtaking Taravo Valley, south of Ajaccio, lies one of the biggest names in Corsican viticulture: Domaine Comte Abbatucci. For over a century, Domaine Comte Abbatucci has honed the art of preserving the island’s indigenous grape varieties by applying the principles of biodynamics. The island environment of this Corsican estate gives the cuvées unrivaled character and power.
The vineyard
The Faustine Vieilles Vignes Rouge cuvée is a Vin de France wine from a granitic terroir. The vineyard is managed using organic and biodynamic farming.
The wine
This cuvée was created to celebrate the birth of Faustine, daughter of Jean-Charles Abbatucci, who currently heads the estate.
Winemaking and aging
The grapes are harvested and then destemmed, and reception is carried out using a gravity-flow system. Skin maceration takes place in concrete tanks. Once fermentation is complete, the wine is aged for six months in stainless steel tanks. Once the different lots are blended, the wine is racked and filtered.
