The estate
Founded in 1946 in Ampuis by Étienne Guigal, the Domaine E. Guigal saw his son Marcel take the helm in 1961. Today, the third generation perpetuates the legacy and values of this emblematic family-run Maison of the Rhône Valley. Renowned for the richness of its terroirs, the estate oversees prestigious vineyards across appellations such as Côte-Rôtie, Condrieu, Hermitage, Châteauneuf-du-Pape, Saint-Joseph, and Crozes-Hermitage, ensuring impeccable quality in every cuvée. Over time, the Maison has grown significantly, acquiring the famous Château d’Ampuis in 1995, as well as renowned estates such as Jean-Louis Grippat, Domaine de Vallouit, Domaine de Bonserine, and Château de Nalys in Châteauneuf-du-Pape.
The vineyard
A benchmark for great Condrieu wines, Domaine E. Guigal cultivates its vines on steep terraces of granitic soils. Averaging 25 years old, these vines benefit from ideal conditions to reveal the full typicity of the terroir.
Winemaking and ageing
The harvest is carried out by hand and carefully sorted. Alcoholic fermentation takes place at a low temperature, one-third in new oak barrels and two-thirds in stainless-steel tanks, followed by full malolactic fermentation. Ageing for 8 months continues in the same proportions, preserving both complexity and freshness.
Grape variety
100% Viognier.
