A lively, structured Crozes-Hermitage White by E. Guigal
The estate
Founded in 1946 in Ampuis by Etienne Guigal, the E. Guigal estate was taken over by his son Marcel in 1961. Today, the third generation carries on the legacy and values of this illustrious family-run Maison in the Rhône Valley. The E. Guigal estate oversees a mosaic of outstanding vineyards across appellations such as Côte-Rôtie, Condrieu, Hermitage, Châteauneuf-du-Pape, Saint-Joseph, and Crozes-Hermitage, ensuring impeccable quality across all its wines. Over the vintages, Maison Guigal has grown significantly, notably with the acquisition of Château d’Ampuis in 1995, as well as estates such as Jean-Louis Grippat, Domaine de Vallouit, Domaine de Bonserine, and Château de Nalys in Châteauneuf-du-Pape.
The vineyard
This white wine from the Rhône Valley partly comes from the former vineyards of Domaine L. de Vallouit, integrated by E. Guigal in 2001. The vines, around 25 years old, flourish on stony, warm, well-drained soils, part of which lie on slopes.
Winemaking and aging
After harvest, the grapes undergo traditional vinification with strict temperature control around 64 °F (18 °C). Aging, lasting about 9 months, is partially carried out in wooden barrels to bring complexity and structure.
Blend
Marsanne and Roussanne.
