The estate

Founded in 1946 by Etienne Guigal in the commune of Ampuis, E. Guigal passed into the hands of his son Marcel in 1961. Today, the third generation upholds the tradition and principles of this prestigious Rhône family estate. Côte-Rôtie, Condrieu, Hermitage, Châteauneuf-du-Pape, Saint-Joseph, Crozes-Hermitage: E. Guigal cultivates a diverse array of vineyards across multiple appellations, forming a collection of impeccably crafted wines.

Over the years, Maison E. Guigal has experienced remarkable growth, notably acquiring the prestigious Château d'Ampuis in 1995, as well as several wine estates (Jean-Louis Grippat, Domaine de Vallouit, Domaine de Bonserine, and Château de Nalys in Châteauneuf-du-Pape).

Terroir

A benchmark among Hermitage wines, this cuvée hails from the lieux-dits Beaumes, Murets, Dionières and Pierrelles. The vines, with an average age of 30 years, thrive on limestone-granitic, clay-loam and sandy-gravelly soils.

Winemaking and aging

Following the harvest, the grapes undergo temperature-controlled alcoholic fermentation between 16 and 18°C. This Rhône wine is aged for 24 months in second-use oak barrels.

Grape varieties

Marsanne and Roussanne.
