Description
The texture and balance of a Haut-Médoc Second Wine
The estate
The Château Sociando-Mallet is an 83-hectare estate overlooking the Gironde estuary. Located on the Left Bank of Bordeaux , this property is among the finest unclassified wines of the Médoc.
The vineyard
With an average vine age of 25 years, the vineyard is planted on a terroir of gravel and clay over a limestone subsoil. The vines are farmed traditionally, without anti-botrytis treatments, and through selection along with the measured use of organic soil amendments.
The wine
Produced under the Haut-Médoc appellation, La Demoiselle de Sociando-Mallet 2024 is the château’s Second Wine. This cuvée takes its name from a species of dragonfly that lives in the Médoc.
Winemaking and aging
Hand-harvested, the grapes are sorted on a table before and after destemming. Traditional vinification, with pump-overs and rack-and-return, as well as malolactic fermentation, are carried out in temperature-controlled concrete and stainless-steel vats. Maceration lasts 25 days.
Blend
La Demoiselle de Sociando Mallet 2024 is a cuvée made from a blend of merlot (93%), cabernet sauvignon (4%) and cabernet franc (3%).
