The indulgent, elegant expression of a Pauillac wine
The estate
Located in the heart of the Pauillac appellation, on the Left Bank of Bordeaux, Château Grand-Puy-Lacoste took its present form in 1855, although it was originally built in the 16th century. The estate was profoundly shaped by Raymond Dupin, who owned it from 1930 to 1978. He then handed it over to the Borie family in 1978, who have carried out numerous renovations ever since. Today, Château Grand-Puy-Lacoste stands as one of the most representative crus of the Pauillac appellation.
The vineyard
The plots dedicated to this cuvée lie to the west of the château's park, in the heart of the Pauillac appellation, surrounded by prestigious classified growths. Replanted from 1978 onwards, this vineyard, with an average age of over 30 years, sits on sandy-gravelly soils made up of fine alluvium, with a density of 7,000 vines per hectare. Vineyard work is geared towards agroecology: natural grass cover, planting of hedges and trees since 2015, and winter grazing by a flock of sheep.
The label of this 2025 vintage bears the mention "Vignes du Parc", referring to the over-30-year-old vineyard from which this cuvée is produced.
The vintage
The 2025 year was marked by remarkable earliness. After a mild and relatively dry winter, budburst took place uniformly from the end of March. A spring spared from humidity ensured excellent sanitary conditions and allowed an ideal flowering to begin on 19 May. Summer proved hot and dry, leading to a swift veraison on 15 July, with the vineyard fully coloured by the end of the month. A few welcome rain showers from 29 August onwards reshaped the end of the season, before the manual harvest was carried out from 4 to 18 September. The yield stood at 30 hl/ha.
Winemaking and aging
The making of this Lacoste-Borie begins with an exclusively manual harvest, followed by vinification in vats adapted to each plot in order to favour gentle extractions. Macerations are long, varying from 18 to 21 days depending on the lot. The wine then benefits from 14 months of aging in a dedicated cellar, in French oak barrels.
Grape varieties
The blend is composed of Cabernet Sauvignon (68%), Merlot (24%) and Cabernet Franc (8%). The presence of the latter brings beautiful freshness, vibrancy to the fruit and great elegance.
