Fruity and spicy, with medium density, the higher proportion of Cabernet Franc provides structure and freshness.

The colour is just beginning to soften around the edges at six years old, although primary raspberry and red cherry fruit are still very much in play on the palate. This is open and inviting, with tobacco, anise, black pepper spice, and eucalyptus notes on the finish.

Brambly and spicy mixed berry fruits, along with vanillin and lighter chocolate aromas, lead into a palate with soft, supple, fleshy appeal and an impressively fresh finish. Try from 2020.

50% Merlot, 10% Cabernet Sauvignon. Deep and somehow purple-tasting. Just a little bit bitter on the finish. (JR)

The 2015 Le Carillon d'Angélus is a very pretty wine with plenty of savory and floral overtones from the Cabernets that are especially prominent in the blend. Dried cherry, tobacco, mint and crushed flowers give the wine its lifted, distinctively midweight personality. The Carillon is best described as a second wine from Angélus rather than the second wine of Angélus, as it really has little in common stylistically with the Grand Vin. Drink it over the next few years.

A medium-bodied, finesse-driven wine with dark black cherry, smoke, licorice, and chocolate, ready to enjoy now with soft, lush texture.

Carillon d’Angelus 2015 is a blend of 50% Merlot, 40% Cabernet Franc, and 10% Cabernet Sauvignon and has a medium garnet color. It jumps from the glass with flamboyant scents of plum preserves, stewed black cherries, and cigar box, followed by hints of crushed rocks, stewed tea, and dusty soil. Medium to full-bodied, the palate is plush and mature with loads of mineral sparks and with the mouth-coating flavors, finishing on a lingering ferrous note.

Resounding charm with silkiness, and a refined, well-proportioned tannin.

Le Carillon de l'Angélus, the château’s second wine, is particularly bright, vibrant and refined in 2015.

The color is dark, violet, with a nose of red fruits. The wine is taut, fairly straight, even a bit strict, with beautiful concentration. A fine bottle in the making. 50% merlot, 40% cabernet franc, 10% cabernet sauvignon.

Medium garnet red. What beautiful aromatic intensity with an elegant symbiosis between ageing and fruit. Spicy notes. Fruity, expressive attack. On the palate, the wine has body and structure. It perfectly reflects the aromatic profile and has dense, well-integrated tannins. Lovely freshness on the palate. A wine that deserves a bit of ageing but can also be enjoyed in its youth.

The nose is delicate, fruity and elegant. It reveals notes of blackberry, strawberry and, more subtly, blueberry, with fine touches of licorice and tobacco, as well as a hint of violet. The palate is fruity, indulgent and balanced, offering richness, smoothness, a touch of tension, freshness and a lovely creamy texture. On the palate, this wine shows notes of blackberry, blackcurrant jam, crushed strawberry and fine notes of licorice, combined with hints of toasted oak and subtle notes of almond. The tannins are fine and well handled. Good length.
