Description
The elegant finesse of a powerful and velvety Aloxe-Corton
The estate
Founded in Beaune in 1797, the Louis Latour estate still belongs to the same family, now represented by its eleventh generation. With 50 hectares in the Côte d’Or, it holds the largest collection of grands crus in Burgundy. Renowned for its ability to combine tradition and innovation, Louis Latour has showcased its exceptional terroirs through precise winemaking and its own facilities, such as its cooperage and historic cellars.
Vineyard
From the finest rolling terroirs of the Côte de Beaune in Burgundy, the Aloxe-Corton 1er Cru “Les Chaillots” from the historic Louis Latour house displays all the typicity of the prestigious Aloxe-Corton Premier Cru appellation. These vineyards, planted on curved plateaus of clay-loam soils and alluvial gravel, offer optimal conditions for Pinot Noir, the emblematic grape variety of Bourgogne, to flourish beautifully and express a unique character.
The 1er Cru “Les Chaillots,” which means “pebbles” in the local dialect, is so named because of the stony soil on which the vineyard is planted.
Winemaking and aging
The grapes are hand-harvested, then traditionally vinified in open vats. Malolactic fermentation is carried out in full. The aging of this Aloxe-Corton takes place over 10 to 12 months in French oak barrels, 35% of which are new, from the estate’s own cooperage.
Grape variety
100% Pinot Noir
