Description

Characteristics and tasting notes for the Aloxe-Corton Village "Domaine Latour" 2024 Louis Latour

Tasting

Colour
The glass reveals an alluring, deep ruby red hue.

Nose
The aromatic bouquet opens with fruity notes of cherry and liquorice, enriched by mineral and earthy nuances. Subtle touches of sandalwood, strawberry, nutmeg, dried flowers, incense and amber add further complexity to the whole.

Palate
Generous and wonderfully round, the palate offers a fine balance underpinned by well-judged acidity. Flavours of black cherry and liquorice combine perfectly with tannins that are both firm and delicate, leading into a beautifully fresh finish.

Food and wine pairing

This red wine pairs beautifully with feathered game, poultry or mature cheeses. It will also enhance traditional regional dishes such as beef bourguignon or coq au vin.

Service and storage

For an optimal tasting experience, the Aloxe-Corton Village "Domaine Latour" 2024 should be served at a temperature between 14 and 15°C. This wine can be enjoyed in its youth, but will continue to evolve favourably, drinking well through to around 2032.

The authentic expression of a wine from the Aloxe-Corton appellation

The estate

Officially founded in 1797, the House of Louis Latour is a historic and essential name in Burgundy, France. This independent family estate, now led by Louis Fabrice Latour, oversees a vineyard of around 50 hectares, including an exceptional 27 hectares classified as Grand Cru. The estate is notably distinguished by its own integrated cooperage and its historic gravity-fed facilities. Passed down from generation to generation, the House continues to uphold a unique expertise that combines tradition with respect for the terroir.

The vineyard

The vines used for this cuvée thrive on the stony slopes of the village of Aloxe-Corton, at the foot of the famous Corton hill. The terroir is characterised by soils composed of limestone, alluvial sand and gravel. The estate favours sustainable viticulture, promoting ecological balance and soil health, with grapes harvested by hand to ensure a rigorous selection of fruit.

Winemaking and aging

After careful sorting and destemming, the Aloxe-Corton Village "Domaine Latour" 2024 is vinified in the traditional way in open vats, with regular manual punching down of the cap. The process benefits from the gravity-fed facilities of the historic winery. The wine is then aged for 10 to 12 months in French oak barrels (15% new oak) crafted by the House's own cooperage, with a medium toast to preserve the brightness of the fruit.
