Description
The richness and elegance of a Romanée-Saint-Vivant Grand Cru wine
The estate
Founded in 1797, the Louis Latour house is today represented by the 11th generation, led by Louis-Fabrice Latour. A négociant-éleveur, Maison Louis Latour owns the largest Grand Cru estate in Burgundy.
The vineyard
Located to the southwest of Romanée-Saint-Vivant, the “ Les Quatre Journaux ” plot benefits from superb exposure. Owners of part of this terroir since 1898, the Latour family now holds a 0.8-hectare vineyard that gives rise to a great Romanée-Saint-Vivant wine. The “ Les Quatre Journaux ” plot takes its name from an old Burgundian unit of measure, a “Journal” corresponding to approximately 0.40 hectares. The vines, averaging 30 years old, are planted on iron-rich clay soils.
Winemaking and aging
Hand-harvested grapes undergo traditional fermentation in open vats. Full malolactic fermentation. Aging for 10 to 12 months takes place in new French oak barrels from Maison Louis Latour’s own cooperage.
Blend
Pinot Noir (100%).
