Louis Latour : Vosne-Romanée 1er cru "Les Chaumes" 2021

A ripe, juicy red, offering black cherry, black currant, pomegranate, floral and peppery spice flavors. Firms up on the finish, with a solid grip of grainy tannins. Best from 2026 through 2040. 100 cases made, 20 cases imported.

An excellent example of this Vosne-Romanee 1er Cru. Plenty of forest berry fruits with hints of bitter chocolate and licorice, as well as smoky and spicy oak. Then comes the surprisingly ripe and focused palate, to which the fine tannins add good tension. Drinkable now, but best from 2025.

The Vosne reading is clear, with a coated texture and a bouquet of ripe black fruits. Liquorice carries the finish.
