The estate
Founded in 1797 by Jean Latour in Beaune, Louis Latour remains a family-run estate now led by the eleventh generation. Established in Burgundy over 50 hectares, it is the largest Grand Cru estate in the Côte d'Or, owning exceptional plots in the Côte de Nuits and Côte de Beaune. A pioneer of modern winemaking techniques since the 19th century, the house blends innovation and tradition, preserving its historic cellars while maintaining its family independence.
The vineyard
The "Les Petits Monts" plot is located in the upper part of the Vosne-Romanée hillside, benefiting from iron- and clay-rich soils particularly favorable to Pinot Noir. The vines, averaging 30 years of age, thrive on this northern Nuits-Saint-Georges terroir where geological conditions allow for the optimal expression of the Burgundian varietal. Hand harvesting and controlled yields at 38 hl/ha ensure exceptional grape quality.
Winemaking and aging
Fermentation takes place in open vats with full malolactic fermentation. Aging lasts 10 to 12 months in medium-toast French oak barrels, with 40% new barrels from the Louis Latour cooperage. This considerate approach preserves the fruit expression while providing the structure required for this fine wine built to age.
Grape variety
100% Pinot Noir, the emblematic grape of Burgundy, which finds a particularly refined and complex expression in the terroirs of Vosne-Romanée.
