Description
Characteristics and tasting notes of the Bourgogne Hautes-Côtes de Nuits "La Corvée de Villy" 2022 Thibault Liger-Belair
Tasting
Colour
The colour reveals a vivid ruby red, reflecting the perfect and healthy ripeness of the berries.
Nose
The aromatic bouquet proves complex, dominated by scents of small red and black fruits such as cherry and raspberry. Delicate floral touches intertwine with a well-defined minerality.
Palate
Rich and generous, the palate offers a round, fruity attack, supported by fine, perfectly integrated tannins. The evolution on the palate reveals a lovely tangy freshness and a growing mineral dimension, leading to a lingering finish where notes of tangy fruit unfold.
Food and wine pairing
This red wine pairs beautifully with roast chicken, sautéed potatoes or fresh peas. It also goes wonderfully with braised white meats, delicate fish without heavy sauces, as well as creamy soft-rind cheeses.
Service and storage
To fully appreciate the Bourgogne Hautes-Côtes de Nuits "La Corvée de Villy" 2022, it is recommended to serve it between 14 and 16 degrees Celsius. Approachable from its youth, this vintage boasts a fine structure allowing it to age favourably in the cellar until around 2029, provided it is stored lying down in a dark place at a constant temperature of around 12 degrees Celsius.
The authentic expression of a Côte de Nuits terroir by Domaine Thibault Liger-Belair
The estate
While the family's history in wine began in 1720, the true winemaking estate was established in 1982. It was then in 2001 that Thibault Liger-Belair, the current owner and manager, took over the reins. Located in Nuits-Saint-Georges, this estate in Burgundy tends an 8-hectare vineyard. The domaine stands out for its philosophy centred on excellence and respect for the soil, illustrated by organic certification obtained as early as 2005. Today, it stands as an essential reference in its region.
The vineyard
Grown on a plot with a distinctive geological terroir, this Bourgogne cuvée draws its character from very stony soil composed of volcanic rock and primary limestone. The top thirty centimetres of soil reveal reddish-orange clay particularly rich in iron. The vines are cultivated according to organic farming principles, favouring manual work and regular ploughing, while excluding synthetic pesticides in order to preserve the plant's vitality.
The vintage
The year 2022 unfolded in a very favourable weather context. These particularly favourable conditions allowed the grapes to reach optimal ripeness throughout the growing cycle.
Winemaking and aging
The hand-harvested grapes undergo rigorous sorting before being 100% destemmed. Fermentation of the Bourgogne Hautes-Côtes de Nuits "La Corvée de Villy" 2022 takes place over three weeks with a very gentle extraction to preserve the finesse of the aromas. The wine then benefits from an extended maceration. Aging takes place over a period of 18 months in oak barrels, 30% of which are new and 70% second- or third-fill, within a modern winery powered by geothermal and solar energy.
Grape variety
100% Pinot Noir.
