Bouchard Père & Fils : Bonnes-Mares Grand cru Domaine 2021

This exciting wine from Bouchard is seldom seen, but in 2021, it was delicious, with ripe mulberry and bramble aromas and notes of menthol, mineral, and a strong suggestion of exotic Asian spices. The texture is ripe and dense, with firm tannins and gorgeous length. The wine is made from a 0.25-hectare parcel on the lower slopes of the vineyard that is planted with very old vines selected by massale selection, where the Pinot Noir is sprinkled throughout with vines of Pinot Beurrot (Pinot Gris). Because the harvest is relatively small, all of the grapes are fermented as whole clusters.
