Ceretto : Barbaresco 2020

The organic Ceretto 2020 Barbaresco reveals a lifted bouquet with bright tones of raspberry and wild strawberry. Those aromas offer a sweet side to the bouquet, but there is also a sour side that comes forth with blood orange or tart pomegranate. The wine ages in French oak for 12 months and is racked into neutral barrel for another year. Fruit comes from both Treiso and Barbaresco.

Expressive and harmonious, this red features cherry, strawberry and eucalyptus flavors. Backed by stiff tannins, leaving an astringent feel on the finish. Best from 2027 through 2040. 672 cases imported.

The 2020 Barbaresco is a pretty entry-level offering. Bright acids and veins of supporting tannin give the 2020 its shape. This understated, vibrant Barbaresco is nicely done. There is a bit of youthful energy to the tannins, so I would open this in advance.
