The estate

The history of Château La Nerthe officially begins in 1560 with the acquisition of the Grange de Beauvenir. Located at the heart of the Rhône Valley, this historic estate now spans 92 hectares. Owned by the Richard family since the 1980s, the château is currently run by Rémi Jean. A pioneer in the region, the estate stands out for its early conversion to organic farming and its deep commitment to agroecology, thus perpetuating a centuries-old winemaking heritage while preserving its remarkable terroir.

The vineyard

The 92-hectare vineyard is divided into 57 distinct plots within the Châteauneuf-du-Pape appellation. It rests on a mosaic of soils made up of rolled pebbles, sand and clay. Farmed organically since 1998, the estate applies rigorous agroecological principles: the use of cover crops, eco-grazing with sheep, and the installation of birdhouses and beehives to promote biodiversity. The grapes are harvested by hand to respect the maturity of each variety.

Winemaking and ageing

The grapes for this 1999 Châteauneuf-du-Pape are hand-harvested plot by plot, at the optimal moment of ripeness. They are then vinified separately or in small groups by terroir before being blended.
