Vinum

Dark ruby; the typical Mouton smokiness combined with mocha, violet, marzipan, blackberry and cassis, a textbook Cabernet bouquet; on the palate dense and compact, the tannins are like velvet and silk, the fruit is crisp, very good length, great harmony. A playful, elegant Mouton of very high quality.

Decanter

Sweet blackcurrants, orange rind, violets, plums, cherry cream and some liquorice. Round and filling, this is dense and intense with prominent tannins, a juicy core and lots of structure. It’s forward and really intense with fine, mineral-edged tannins. Sophisticated and really generous, ample and persistent with such a fleshy mouthfeel. Zero wood. This is just brilliant—fresh, lively, zingy and ample. Lovely finesse too. There’s acidity for sure, but there’s creaminess to counter it. A marvelous Mouton. Ageing 100% new barrels, 18 months. pH 3.71.

Cigar box, flowers, black currants, blackberries, espresso, licorice, spice box, and forest leaves initiate the wine's complex aromatics. On the palate, the wine is almost creamy, exhibiting freshness, energy, length, and purity. This upbeat wine is chalky, complex, and enhanced with sweetness, an array of spices, and more of those juicy, fresh currants in the refreshing, mint-tinged finish. I particularly enjoy the Indian spice notes that emerge at the backend of the finish. The wine consists of 93% Cabernet Sauvignon and 7% Merlot. Only 2010 had a higher percentage of Cabernet in the blend. 12.9% ABV, 3.77 pH. 44.5% of the harvest was placed into the Grand Vin. The harvest took place September 23 - October 5. Drink from 2030-2060. 95-97 Pts

Le Figaro Vin

A delicate, contemplative nose, initially a little distant like a philosopher unfazed by everyday concerns, then swept by a surge of vitality layering aromas of rose sap, coffee grounds, morello cherry and violet. On the palate, what strikes first is the creamy, beguiling texture that makes the senses waver. Then that same surge of vitality rises like a gushing sap, filling the mouth with a throbbing, electrifying energy—a kind of gustatory solar system to explore. The finish is long and mouthwatering, stretching out on a saline note of delightful purity.
