Tasting
Colour
The colour reveals a golden yellow hue, both intense and brilliant, crossed by subtle greenish highlights that underscore the youthfulness of this white wine.
Nose
Deep and expressive, the nose exudes delicate aromas of yellow fruit, harmoniously complemented by a toasty freshness that reflects noble, well-mastered aging.
Palate
Generous and full-bodied, the palate offers a remarkable balance between the unctuous opulence of Chardonnay and the mineral vivacity typical of its terroir. The tasting experience lingers on a long finish, supported by fine oak and a pleasant sweetness.
Food and Wine Pairing
This great white wine pairs beautifully with refined dishes such as grilled lobster, pan-seared fish with a creamy sauce, or quality poultry. It also elevates bolder pairings with foie gras or blue cheese.
Service and Storage
To reveal the full complexity of its aromas while preserving its mineral freshness, it is recommended to serve this wine at a temperature between 12 and 14 °C.
The Elegance and Richness of a Great White Burgundy
The Estate
Founded in the 11th century, the Domaine du Château de Meursault stands as an emblematic figure of local winegrowing. Located in the heart of the Côte de Beaune, this historic estate oversees a vast vineyard. Since its acquisition in 2012, Olivier Halley, the current owner, has driven a genuine renaissance in both quality and environmental practices. A pioneer in the face of climate challenges, the estate stands out for its innovative agroecological practices and organic certification, producing wines of recognized excellence that celebrate the richness of their terroirs.
The Vineyard
This wine comes from five distinct plots ideally located at the lower and middle sections of the slope within the Meursault appellation. These varied terroirs rest on a geological mosaic made up of clay-limestone soils, stony ground, calcareous brown soils, and limestone alluvium. This configuration provides optimal drainage and a privileged exposure, giving the wine its unique profile.
The Vintage
The 2024 vintage stands out for its historic earliness and unprecedented weather conditions. After a start to summer marked by intense heat and water stress, the growing cycle had to contend with a heatwave in August. Despite these climatic challenges, lower yields and late sunshine allowed for optimal natural concentration and excellent berry ripeness.
Winemaking and Aging
After hand-harvesting and rigorous sorting, the berries are pressed and then settled. Alcoholic fermentation takes place in oak barrels over ten days. The wine is then aged for twelve months in barrels (25% new oak), with regular lees stirring every two weeks during the first six months to enrich its texture and aromatic complexity.
Grape Variety
Chardonnay (100%).
