Description
The authentic expression of a Savigny-Les-Beaune terroir
The estate
Located in the heart of Burgundy, Domaine du Château de Meursault has historic origins dating back to 1032, when the fief was granted by Duke Robert I. Having weathered the centuries, the estate was acquired at the end of 2012 by the Halley family. Under the leadership of its current owner, Olivier Halley, the domaine spans sixty-seven hectares and is transitioning towards organic farming. This approach reflects a strong commitment to combining the preservation of a thousand-year-old heritage with contemporary, environmentally responsible winegrowing practices.
The vineyard
The vineyard from which this Savigny-Les-Beaune is born covers just over three and a half hectares. These plots are located in the northern part of the Côte de Beaune, on the upper section of the slope, at an altitude ranging between two hundred and fifty and four hundred metres. The vines benefit from an ideal south-facing exposure for the ripening of the berries. They are planted in clay-limestone, stony soils, a geological composition that ensures optimal drainage and good moisture retention, thereby fostering the production of structured wines with a distinctive minerality.
