Description

Characteristics and tasting notes of the Bienvenues-Bâtard-Montrachet Grand Cru 2024 from Domaine Faiveley

Tasting

Appearance
The wine reveals a delicate lemon-yellow hue of great finesse, illuminated by subtle lime-green highlights and an elegant pale golden shimmer.

Nose
Remarkably complex, the bouquet unveils aromas of orchard fruits such as Comice pear and apple skin, harmoniously interwoven with notes of mandarin, nectarine and candied citrus. The whole is enriched by indulgent touches of butter, toasted brioche and lemon meringue pie, underscored by delicate nuances of white flowers and spices, with a slight beneficial reduction.

Palate
Pure, crisp and endowed with a superb structure, the palate offers a taut acidity and a lively texture. It stands out for its great finesse and stretches elegantly towards a clean, long and perfectly balanced finish.

Food and wine pairings

This great white wine from France pairs wonderfully with noble crustaceans such as grilled lobster, prepared à l'américaine or Thermidor. It also perfectly accompanies white poultry, such as a Bresse chicken, as well as characterful cheeses like Époisses.

Serving and cellaring

With exceptional ageing potential, this Bienvenues-Bâtard-Montrachet Grand Cru 2024 requires a few years of patience to reveal its full expression and may be enjoyed until around 2050.

A white Grand Cru from Burgundy combining aromatic purity and finesse

The estate

Founded in 1825 in Nuits-Saint-Georges, Domaine Faiveley is a historic institution of Burgundy. Now led by the seventh generation, embodied by Erwan and Eve Faiveley, the estate spans 127 hectares spread across the Côte de Nuits, the Côte de Beaune and the Côte Chalonnaise. Combining respect for tradition with a spirit of innovation, the estate obtained its organic farming certification in July 2025. It stands out for its environmental commitment, its philanthropy for local heritage and its impressive collection of prestigious terroirs.

The vineyard

This Bienvenues-Bâtard-Montrachet comes from a plot of approximately 0.47 hectares acquired in 1970, ideally located in the commune of Puligny-Montrachet, just below the Bâtard-Montrachet climat. The vines flourish on limestone soils rich in clay. The estate favours ploughing to work the soils and manages biodiversity respectfully, encouraging deep rooting to express all the minerality and authenticity of the terroir.

The vintage

The 2024 year is characterised by particularly low yields in the vineyards. This singularity made it possible to obtain grapes of impressive concentration and excellent ripeness, essential elements in shaping the balance and aromatic richness of this vintage.

Winemaking and ageing

The harvest of the Bienvenues-Bâtard-Montrachet Grand Cru 2024 is carried out by hand in small crates. The bunches are destemmed without crushing before being gently placed in wooden vats. Fermentation takes place naturally thanks to indigenous yeasts, as does the malolactic fermentation. The wine is then aged for 12 to 18 months in the 19th-century vaulted cellars, in French oak barrels of which 50% are new.

Grape variety

100% Chardonnay.
