Description

Characteristics and Tasting Notes for the Corton Grand Cru "Clos des Cortons Faiveley" Monopole 2024 Domaine Faiveley

Tasting

Colour
The colour reveals a light red hue, with remarkable visual precision.

Nose
The aromatic bouquet opens with vibrant notes of blackberry, blackcurrant and raspberry, complemented by touches of black cherry and spiced redcurrant. Subtle nuances of undergrowth and wild, gamey scents enrich this olfactory palette.

Palate
Medium-bodied, the palate reveals a fine, caressing tannic structure that supports generous fruit. An intense, saline minerality unfolds, offering a singular tactile sensation, before stretching into a harmonious, elegant finish of great complexity.

Food and Wine Pairing

This red wine pairs perfectly with flavourful meats such as roast beef, herb-braised lamb or game in sauce. It also complements dishes with earthy accents beautifully, such as veal with wild mushrooms or black truffles, as well as soft or blue-veined cheeses.

Service and Storage

To fully appreciate the Corton Grand Cru "Clos des Cortons Faiveley" Monopole 2024, it is recommended to serve it slightly chilled, at a temperature between 14 and 16°C. With its solid structure, this wine requires a few years of patience and can evolve favourably in the cellar, drinking well until around 2050.

The Authentic Expression of a Red Grand Cru from Burgundy

The Estate

Founded in 1825 in Nuits-Saint-Georges, Domaine Faiveley stands as an unmissable historic figure of Burgundy. This vast 120-hectare estate is now run by Erwan Faiveley, representing the seventh generation, supported by his sister Eve. The estate is distinguished by its impressive collection of monopoles and its deep commitment to the environment, illustrated by a full conversion to organic farming. Combining respect for tradition with a spirit of innovation, the estate continues to shine through cuvées that faithfully reflect the richness of Burgundy's terroirs.

The Vineyard

Acquired in 1874, the climat of Clos des Cortons Faiveley extends over 2.76 hectares on the famous hill of Corton, overlooking the village of Ladoix. East-facing, this singular terroir rests on shallow soils composed of limestone, marl and clay. The pronounced presence of ferruginous oolite gives the soil its characteristic red colour, offering an ideal environment for the vines to thrive and for the production of wines of great mineral depth.

The Vintage

The year 2024 proved particularly challenging from a weather standpoint. The growing cycle was disrupted by relentless rainfall, favouring strong mildew pressure. These difficult climatic conditions considerably impacted yields, resulting in a historically low harvest in volume, yet revealing grapes of great concentration.

Winemaking and Aging

For the Corton Grand Cru "Clos des Cortons Faiveley" Monopole 2024, the winery's philosophy favours finesse and aromatic expression. Fermentation takes place in new wooden vats. Given the specific characteristics of this vintage, aging in oak barrels was deliberately shortened to preserve the wine's energy, freshness and natural balance, thereby avoiding excessive oak influence.
