Description
Characteristics and tasting notes of the Puligny-Montrachet Village "Les Tremblots Vieilles Vignes" 2022 from Domaine Hubert Lamy
Tasting
Appearance
Remarkably clear, the wine reveals a bright pale yellow hue, enhanced by subtle green reflections characteristic of its youth.
Nose
Beautifully complex, the aromatic bouquet opens with intense notes of pear essence, green apple and citrus fruits such as lemon and grapefruit. With aeration, delicate hints of spiced tea, flowers and a mineral thread emerge, releasing subtle finely toasted nuances.
Palate
The attack, wonderfully delicate, gives way to a powerful, dense and richly textured mid-palate. Carried by a vibrant and precise acidity that lends it beautiful tension, this white wine extends towards a finish of remarkable length, marked by a mineral salinity and citrus nuances that may evolve into honeyed notes over time.
Food and wine pairings
This white wine pairs wonderfully with seafood such as oysters, scallops or langoustines, particularly when prepared with a white wine reduction. It also enhances firm-fleshed fish such as turbot or sole, as well as white meats, notably roast poultry with herbs or veal in a cream and mushroom sauce. Fresh goat cheeses or a Brie de Meaux will also make ideal companions.
Serving and cellaring
For an optimal tasting experience, it is advisable to store the bottles horizontally in a place sheltered from light and humidity variations, at a constant temperature between 12 and 14°C. Endowed with excellent ageing potential, this Puligny-Montrachet Village "Les Tremblots Vieilles Vignes" 2022 can be enjoyed until around 2037.
The elegance and mineral precision of a white wine from Burgundy
The estate
Founded in 1973 by Hubert Lamy, Domaine Hubert Lamy is part of a family winegrowing heritage dating back to 1640. Located in Saint-Aubin, in Burgundy, the estate now spans 18.5 hectares. Since the mid-1990s, Olivier Lamy and his wife Karine have been at the helm of the domaine. A true pioneer, Olivier has raised the reputation of his wines thanks to innovative viticultural practices, such as very high-density planting, while preserving a philosophy deeply respectful of the expression of each terroir.
The vineyard
This wine comes from a 0.90-hectare parcel located on the "Les Tremblots" Climat, in the south of the Puligny-Montrachet appellation. Planted in 1946 and 1970, these old vines benefit from a south-facing exposure and a gentle slope at 230 metres of altitude. The terroir, composed of limestone marls and white pebbles, gives the wine its singular minerality. The vineyard is cultivated according to the principles of sustainable viticulture, with harvests carried out exclusively by hand.
The vintage
The 2022 year began with a mild winter followed by ideal flowering conditions, ensuring generous yields. The summer was marked by particularly hot temperatures, causing water stress in August, fortunately relieved by welcome rainfall in mid-month. The dry and windy conditions in the weeks preceding the harvest, which began in late August, made it possible to pick grapes in impeccable sanitary condition.
Winemaking and ageing
After pneumatic pressing and overnight settling, the fermentation of this Puligny-Montrachet Village "Les Tremblots Vieilles Vignes" 2022 is initiated by indigenous yeasts. Ageing takes place in 600-litre demi-muids and 350-litre barrels, with a maximum proportion of 15% new oak. The wine rests on fine lees for 24 months, followed by a further 6 months in stainless steel tanks before bottling.
Grape variety
100% Chardonnay.
