Description
Characteristics and tasting tips for the Bourgogne Côte d'Or Chardonnay 2024 from Domaine Michel Bouzereau et Fils
Tasting
Nose
The aromatic bouquet opens with lovely citrus freshness, recalling lemon and candied citron, intertwined with aromas of white and yellow fruit such as apple, pear and white peach. Generous floral notes weave through mineral hints of wet stone, all underscored by delicate nuances of hazelnut and sweet almond, along with a subtle touch of brioche.
Palate
The palate stands out for its precision and finely chiselled profile. It strikes a fine balance between a creamy texture and vibrant mineral tension. The wine's energy carries through to a long, lively and saline finish.
Food and wine pairing
This white wine is particularly enjoyable as an aperitif, served with gougères. It also pairs beautifully with pan-fried white fish or fish in beurre blanc sauce, sushi and langoustine tartare, as well as with dishes in creamy sauces such as blanquette de veau. A selection of soft cheeses also makes an excellent match.
Serving and cellaring
To enjoy the Bourgogne Côte d'Or Chardonnay 2024 at its best, it is recommended to serve it straight from the bottle, at a temperature of around 10 to 11°C. Although it can be enjoyed from 2026, this wine will reveal its full complexity after a few years in the cellar and can be enjoyed until around 2034.
A fresh and expressive white Burgundy
The estate
Located in the heart of Meursault in Burgundy, the estate became independent in 1971 under the leadership of Michel Bouzereau. It officially became Domaine Michel Bouzereau et Fils when his son, Jean-Baptiste Bouzereau, the current owner, took over in 1999. This family-owned vineyard of around 12.5 hectares is renowned for its high standards and consistency. Favouring meticulous soil work and an environmentally friendly approach without official certification, the estate produces wines that combine purity, tension and elegance, faithfully reflecting their prestigious terroirs.
The vineyard
The grapes for this Burgundy wine come from a vineyard of around three hectares spread across the villages of Meursault and Puligny-Montrachet. The plots, such as Sous la Velle, Magny and Champs Perriers, lie on clay-limestone soils dotted with outcropping rocks and red earth. The vines, propagated through massal selection, were planted between 1957 and 1995. The estate uses viticultural methods close to organic farming, with regular soil work, no herbicides and entirely manual harvesting.
Winemaking and ageing
Following hand harvesting and rigorous sorting, the Bourgogne Côte d'Or Chardonnay 2024 is aged for one year in oak barrels, including a measured proportion of 15% new wood. The wine then undergoes a further two months of maturation in tank before bottling, preserving all its freshness and aromatic precision.
