An authentic Saumur red from organic farming

The estate

Born in 2020 from the passion of Aurélia and Étienne Moly, Domaine Moly has become part of the winegrowing landscape of the Loire Valley after twenty years of the couple’s expatriation in California and New Zealand. Based in Distré near Saumur, they now farm more than 4 hectares across the Saumur and Saumur-Champigny appellations, mainly planted with Cabernet Franc and Chenin. Trained alongside Romain Guiberteau, a leading figure in organic viticulture in the Loire, they manage their vineyard according to rigorous organic practices. Their wines, aged in a troglodyte cellar, reflect a philosophy of purity and authenticity.

The vineyard

This Saumur wine comes from young Cabernet Franc vines grown in the commune of Artannes-sur-Thouet. The clay soils give the wine structure and depth. Certified organic by ECOCERT, the vineyard shows a controlled yield of 36 hl/ha, promoting grape concentration.

Winemaking and aging

After careful sorting, the grapes for La Nomade 2024 are destemmed and then put into vats. Fermentation takes place in stainless steel tanks with indigenous yeasts. Racking off occurs before the end of alcoholic fermentation, guided by the desired aromatic profile. Malolactic fermentation happens spontaneously. Aging continues for 12 months in 225-liter barrels, with gravity racking in the underground cellar. Bottling is carried out without filtration.
