Nose
Generous and complex, the nose exudes aromas of fresh red fruits such as strawberry and raspberry, heightened by delicate floral notes of violet and spicy touches of pepper and cinnamon.

The palate seduces with its velvety texture and great suppleness. Carried by fine tannins and lovely freshness, it extends into a persistent finish, marked by peppery and mineral nuances.

This Syrah d'Ogier 2023 offers immediate pleasure but will continue to evolve favourably, best enjoyed until around 2031.

Other characteristics

This wine presents a moderate alcohol content, between 13 and 13.5%, reflecting a pursuit of balance and freshness typical of its terroir.

The elegance and freshness of a Rhône Valley wine from Domaine Stéphane Ogier

The estate

Founded in 1980 by Michel Ogier in Ampuis, at the heart of the Rhône Valley in France, Domaine Stéphane Ogier has become an essential reference. Now run by his son, Stéphane Ogier, who joined the family venture in 1997, the estate has grown from 2.5 to 45 hectares of vines. Drawing on his Burgundian training, the current owner instils a philosophy focused on elegance, precision and the expression of terroir, elevating his cuvées among the most sought-after by wine lovers worldwide.

The vineyard

The grapes for this cuvée come from a five-hectare plot located on the Plateau de Louze, under the IGP Collines Rhodaniennes appellation. Around twenty years old, the vines are planted at high density on a distinctive terroir composed of rolled pebbles. The estate favours sustainable farming practices, with exclusively hand-picked harvests to preserve the quality of the fruit and the authentic expression of this unique terroir.

The vintage

Following a previous year marked by extreme weather conditions, 2023 stood out for its much milder climate. This favourable weather allowed the berries to reach optimal, balanced ripeness, without excessive sugar accumulation, thus fostering lovely freshness.

Winemaking and aging

After careful sorting in the vineyard and at the winery, the grapes for Syrah d'Ogier 2023 are fully destemmed. Cold maceration in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks precedes fermentation triggered by indigenous yeasts. Aging then takes place over twelve months in 225-litre French oak barrels that have already held wine, in order to preserve the brightness of the fruit and the identity of the terroir without the wine being marked by the wood.
