The estate
Founded in 1981 by Gianni Masciarelli, the Masciarelli estate now spans approximately 300 hectares across the four provinces of Abruzzo. A true pioneer of the region, Gianni Masciarelli revolutionized local viticulture by introducing innovative methods. Since 2008, Marina Cvetic Masciarelli has led the estate alongside her daughter Miriam Lee Masciarelli. The estate has established itself as an essential benchmark in Abruzzo, internationally recognized for the exceptional quality of its wines produced exclusively from estate-owned vines.
The vineyard
Montepulciano d'Abruzzo is crafted from grapes grown in the estate's vineyards located in Abruzzo. The plots benefit from the varied terroirs characteristic of this Italian wine region, allowing the Montepulciano grape to express itself fully.
The vintage
The 2019 vintage in Abruzzo was marked by a cool spring followed by a sunny summer. Weather conditions in September and early October were particularly favorable, with warm days and cool nights, allowing optimal ripening of the Montepulciano grapes. This sun-drenched yet fresh vintage gave rise to balanced and aromatic wines.
Winemaking and aging
The Montepulciano d'Abruzzo 2019 is vinified according to the estate's traditional methods. Depending on the cuvée within the classic range, aging is carried out partially in barrels or in tanks, preserving the fruity expression of the grape while adding structure and complexity to this Italian wine.
