Description

Tasting Notes and Characteristics of Moët & Chandon x Pharrell Williams Limited Edition "Ice Impérial"

Tasting

Appearance
The robe reveals a deep golden hue, enhanced by delicate amber highlights.

Nose
The aromatic bouquet is particularly intense, immediately revealing aromas of tropical fruits such as mango and guava, combined with ripe stone fruits like nectarine. Subtle hints of sweet spices complete this indulgent expression.

Palate
The attack is ample, fleshy and intensely fruity. A gradual acidity then balances this richness, leading to a remarkably fresh finish marked by nuances of citrus and ginger.

Food and wine pairings
This cuvée pairs wonderfully with sweet-and-savoury or lightly spiced dishes. It will ideally accompany exotic fish tartares with mango or lime, as well as white meats marinated with sweet spices. To conclude a meal, it will enhance lightly sweetened fruit-based desserts, such as an exotic fruit salad or a thin peach tart.

Serving and ageing
The Moët & Chandon x Pharrell Williams Limited Edition "Ice Impérial" has been specially designed to be enjoyed over ice. It is recommended to serve it very chilled in a large wine glass with three ice cubes, in order to gradually reveal its full aromatic richness while preserving its balance.

Moët & Chandon unveils a summer version of an exceptional cuvée

The estate
Officially founded in 1743 by Claude Moët in Épernay, in the heart of Champagne, the Moët & Chandon House has established itself as the largest producer in the world within its sector. Now part of the LVMH group, this prestigious brand draws on an exceptional vineyard of approximately 1,150 hectares. Renowned for its ability to combine vast production volumes with consistent stylistic precision, the house blends a unique historical heritage with a modern vision, illustrated by strong environmental commitments and bold artistic collaborations.

The vineyard
The grapes used for this wine come from the various major areas of Champagne, offering a rich mosaic of terroirs. The soils, largely defined by the presence of chalk, foster finesse and freshness in the berries. The estate is actively committed to sustainable viticulture, having entirely eliminated the use of herbicides in favour of mechanical soil work and cover cropping, while also promoting biodiversity through the planting of hedges and flowering strips.

Inspired by the pioneering vision of Robert-Jean de Vogüé in the early 20th century, the Moët & Chandon Ice Impérial cuvée was born in 2010 from a bold creative impulse. The Cellar Master and his team reinvented the traditional codes of blending to craft a unique champagne, specially designed to be enjoyed over ice without losing its character or aromatic intensity. This non-vintage cuvée is the result of a meticulous blend of base wines selected for their particularly ripe and intense profile. This rigorous selection anticipates the dilution caused by serving over ice, thereby ensuring an optimal aromatic expression.
In 2026, the bottle is reinterpreted by American designer Pharrell Williams, who has been collaborating with the House since 2025.

Winemaking and ageing
The making of Moët & Chandon x Pharrell Williams Limited Edition "Ice Impérial" involves a specific oenological approach to withstand the thermal shock and dilution from the ice. After the second fermentation, the wine benefits from ageing on lees of around 18 months in the house's vast underground cellars. Following disgorgement, it rests for at least a further three months before being released, allowing the aromas to harmonise perfectly. The dosage of this cuvée is 45 g/litre.

Grape varieties
This blend is composed of 40 to 50% Pinot Noir, 30 to 40% Pinot Meunier and 10 to 20% Chardonnay.
