Description
Characteristics and Tasting Notes for the Clos Andréa Premier Cru Brut Nature 2016 Pierre Moncuit
Tasting
Nose
The bouquet reveals great elegance, carried by aromas of white fruits and subtle notes of lime. It is enriched with floral touches reminiscent of vine flower, along with indulgent pastry nuances such as brioche and praline.
Palate
On the palate, the texture is delicately smooth thanks to a fine, creamy mousse. The freshness of lime blends with brioche flavors, all supported by a fine mineral, chalky tension that leads to a remarkably dry and precise finish.
Food and Wine Pairing
This cuvée pairs perfectly with foie gras. Its great purity and mineral tension also make it an excellent match for delicate seafood such as scallop carpaccio, oysters, as well as roasted white meats and fresh cheeses.
Other Characteristics
This wine is a Brut Nature, meaning it has no added dosage. It is bottled under cork at a pressure of 5 bars. Disgorgement took place in December 2024. Its alcohol content is 12.5%.
The Pure Expression of Terroir in an Exceptional Champagne by Pierre Moncuit
The Estate
Founded in 1889 in Mesnil-sur-Oger, at the heart of the Champagne region, the Pierre Moncuit house is a historic family estate. Today, the property is run by Nicole Moncuit, her brother Yves, and her daughter Valérie. This independent winegrower cultivates a vineyard of 19 hectares. The brand stands out for its commitment to single-varietal wines and its refusal to use reserve wines, thus favoring the authentic expression of each vintage. The estate is also committed to a strong environmental approach.
The Vineyard
The grapes come exclusively from Clos Andréa, a unique walled plot located in the village of Vertus, classified Premier Cru in Champagne. This micro-terroir, with soils rich in limestone, is cultivated using traditional farming methods. The estate follows a sustainable approach, recognized by HVE (Haute Valeur Environnementale) certification, ensuring deep respect for biodiversity and the natural balance of the vine.
Vinification and Aging
The Clos Andréa Premier Cru Brut Nature 2016 is crafted as a single-plot cuvée, vinified exclusively in stainless steel tanks. To preserve all the freshness and natural tension of the grape, the estate chooses not to carry out any malolactic fermentation. The wine then benefits from an extended aging period of six years on the lees in the house's cellars, allowing its aromatic complexity to develop before disgorgement.
