Description
Tasting notes and characteristics of the Delos Grand Cru Brut by Pierre Moncuit
Tasting
Appearance
This champagne reveals a clear, bright pale yellow robe, enhanced by subtle greenish reflections and animated by fine, steady bubbles.
Nose
The aromatic bouquet proves to be both delicate and intense. It exudes seductive citrus notes, such as lemon and grapefruit, harmoniously blended with hints of white flowers and delicate brioche touches.
Palate
On the palate, the attack is lively and light, giving way to a superb saline tension. The finish, particularly long and flavoursome, expresses with purity all the mineral character of the Mesnil terroir.
Food and wine pairings
Ideal for enhancing an aperitif, this cuvée also pairs wonderfully with a generous seafood platter, oysters, raw fish or white meats served with a cream sauce.
Serving and ageing
This champagne is best enjoyed at a temperature of around 9 °C. With great ageing potential, it can be cellared and enjoyed until around 2038.

The estate
The family's winemaking history began in 1889 in Mesnil-sur-Oger, but it was in 1929 that the Champagne House was truly established with the first bottlings under the Pierre Moncuit brand. This independent family estate, located in the heart of the Côte des Blancs, spans 19 hectares exclusively planted with chardonnay. Today, the property is passionately run by Nicole Moncuit, alongside her brother Yves and her daughter Valérie. Together, they uphold a classic expertise to produce wines of remarkable purity.
The vineyard
The vines, with an exceptional average age of 45 to 50 years, thrive on the renowned chalky terroirs of Mesnil-sur-Oger, classified as Grand Cru. This deep chalk bedrock provides ideal water and thermal regulation for grape ripening. This Champagne estate favours traditional cultivation and holds High Environmental Value (HVE) certification, reflecting its commitment to preserving ecosystems.
Vinification and ageing
Winemaking is carried out on a plot-by-plot basis in temperature-controlled stainless steel vats. In order to preserve freshness and aromatic purity, no oak ageing is used. The wine undergoes a full malolactic fermentation before benefiting from a long ageing on lees, thus developing all its complexity.
Grape variety
This Delos Grand Cru Brut by Pierre Moncuit is 100% chardonnay.
