Description
Characteristics and Tasting Tips for the Tinus Marsanne Roussanne 2021 from Les Tourettes
Tasting
Colour
The colour reveals a brilliant golden hue, enhanced by subtle green highlights.
Nose
The nose opens with a generous bouquet of white flowers and yellow fruits, notably apricot and peach. Notes of honey and beeswax add complexity, accompanied by delicate touches of toasted bread. A vegetal freshness and hints of citrus complete this expressive aromatic palette.
Palate
The attack on the palate is precise and well defined. The ample, vinous structure unfolds a beautiful textural richness, balanced by a crystalline, persistent minerality. Fruity generosity coexists harmoniously with invigorating freshness. The finish lingers elegantly, marked by mineral and floral notes, along with fine bitter touches that lend character and length to the whole.
Food and Wine Pairings
This white wine is an ideal match for grilled lobster or lobster in butter sauce, as well as refined seafood. It also pairs perfectly with poultry in a creamy mushroom sauce, particularly with morels. Noble fish, whether baked in a crust or roasted, also make excellent pairings. Its versatility allows it to shine as an aperitif.

A White Vin de France Combining Richness and Minerality
The Estate
Founded in 1997 with the acquisition of the property, Les Tourettes oversees a vineyard of 17 to 19 hectares near Apt. The current owners are Maine and Jean-Marie Guffens-Heynen, the latter running the estate and bringing to it his Burgundian exacting standards. The vineyard, almost entirely restructured, stands out for its grape variety selection, which is unusual for the area, particularly for whites (Viognier, Chardonnay, Marsanne, Roussanne), and for its altitude (~420 m), which preserves freshness.
The Vineyard
The grapes for this cuvée come from the Plateau de l'Aigle, located at an altitude of between 400 and 420 metres. This elevation creates a distinctive microclimate, with cool nights that preserve the grapes' natural acidity while allowing gradual ripening. The limestone soils give the wine its characteristic minerality and structural elegance. Classified as Vin de France, this wine benefits from maximum freedom to express its terroir.
The Vintage
The winter of 2021 was marked by an episode of frost of rare intensity. A milder spring favoured flowering at the end of May, followed by particularly rainy months of June and July. Weather instability set in between mid-July and mid-August, before late-summer conditions allowed the grapes to reach optimal ripeness.
Winemaking and Ageing
After hand harvesting, the grapes for the Tinus Marsanne Roussanne 2021 are pressed directly at the estate. Only the first juices, renowned for their nobility and superior acidity, are kept for vinification. Fermentation takes place in tulip-shaped concrete tanks, whose geometry promotes natural circulation of the must. The wine then remains on fine lees for several months in these same round-bottomed tanks, before being transferred to tanks for further rest on the lees. This extended ageing enriches the aromatic complexity and develops a velvety texture.
