Description

Tasting notes and serving advice for the Tinus Marsanne Roussanne 2024 from Château des Tourettes

Tasting

Appearance
Clear and bright, the color reveals superb golden highlights.

Nose
Expressive and highly intense, the bouquet first reveals aromas of white-fleshed fruits such as peach and pear, enhanced by the freshness of mandarin zest. With aeration, delicate floral notes of acacia and hawthorn intertwine with more complex nuances of toasted bread, almond paste, honey, and a subtle hint of menthol.

Palate
The attack reveals a full-bodied, vinous texture marked by the indulgence of sweet almond. This richness is perfectly balanced by a fine tension and a minerality reminiscent of spring water. The palate offers a striking harmony between warm notes of toasted sesame and fresher touches of anise. The finish is long, persistent, and enhanced by very elegant bitterness.

Food and wine pairings

Ideal as an aperitif, this wine also pairs beautifully with seafood and shellfish, such as lobster, grilled squid, or salmon tartare with ginger. It also harmonizes perfectly with richer dishes such as poultry stuffed with morels, endives with ham, or grilled asparagus.

Serving and cellaring

To fully appreciate this 2024 vintage, it is recommended to serve it at a temperature between 8 and 12°C (46–54°F), after allowing it to aerate in the bottle for about one hour. With excellent aging potential, this wine can be enjoyed from 2025 and will continue to evolve until around 2032.

The elegance and minerality of a white wine from France by Guffens-Heynen

The estate

Acquired in 1997 by Maine and Jean-Marie Guffens-Heynen, the Château des Tourettes is an estate of around 15 hectares located in the Luberon, in the heart of the Rhône Valley. Now managed by Marie Guffens-Heynen, the property stands out for its unconventional viticultural approach and its ambition to produce exceptional wines from high-altitude terroirs. The estate has become a true laboratory of experimentation for Jean-Marie Guffens, who skillfully applies his principles of controlled yields to reveal the authenticity of this southern terroir.

The vineyard

This Vin de France comes from plots located on a plateau at around 400 meters in altitude, near Apt. This distinctive terroir, rich in limestone, benefits from a cool microclimate that allows for slow berry ripening while preserving natural acidity. The vineyard is managed according to a minimalist philosophy known as “non-cultivation,” with permanent grass cover and shallow annual plowing, naturally limiting vine vigor to concentrate aromas. Harvesting is carried out strictly by hand and in several successive passes.

Winemaking and aging

The winemaking process begins with extremely gentle pressing using a modified press, with careful separation of free-run juices. Fermentation takes place exclusively with indigenous yeasts in tulip-shaped concrete tanks under strict temperature control. The wine then undergoes extended aging on full lees for several months in these same tanks, enhancing its aromatic complexity and textural richness while protecting it from oxidation.
