Description
Characteristics and tasting advice for the Tinus Grand Blanc Plateau de l'Aigle 2024 from Château des Tourettes
Tasting
Appearance
The wine reveals a golden hue of radiant clarity.
Nose
Particularly complex and comforting, the bouquet opens with aromas of bread crust, orange zest, apricot jam, and dried fig. With aeration, it evolves toward indulgent notes of sesame oil, hazelnut, lavender honey, and white fruit coulis.
Palate
Dynamic and broad in scope, the palate is structured around a spicy backbone (saffron, Sichuan pepper) interwoven with citrus flavors such as orange and grapefruit. A subtle peppery touch enlivens the mid-palate, leading to a remarkably long finish marked by a mineral resonance and notes of spice.
Food and wine pairings
Crafted for generous and authentic cuisine, this white wine pairs beautifully with cod brandade, andouillette with mustard served alongside split pea purée, a creamy poultry curry, or roasted monkfish medallions.
Serving and cellaring
To fully appreciate the Tinus Grand Blanc Plateau de l'Aigle 2024, it is recommended to serve it between 12 and 13°C after allowing it to aerate in the bottle for about one hour. This wine can be enjoyed now and will continue to evolve favorably until around 2034.
The elegance and complexity of a Vin de France by Château des Tourettes
The estate
Acquired and completely redesigned in 1997 by Maine and Jean-Marie Guffens, the Château des Tourettes is located in the foothills of the Luberon. The estate was born from the couple’s desire to apply their immense Burgundian expertise to a high-altitude Provençal terroir that was then underestimated. Still led today by Jean-Marie Guffens, a visionary and unconventional winemaker, the estate spans 19 hectares. It stands out for its artisanal approach and complete artistic freedom, producing wines of exceptional quality that transcend regional conventions.
The vineyard
This Vin de France comes from the lieu-dit "Plateau de l'Aigle," the highest terroir of the estate, reaching nearly 420 meters in altitude. Mostly north-facing, the vines, around 25 years old, benefit from cool nights and slow ripening. They thrive on soils particularly rich in limestone, cultivated according to the principles of organic farming. The plant material comes from meticulous massal selection, promoting genetic diversity. Harvesting is carried out entirely by hand.
The vintage
The year 2024 was marked by a lower chardonnay harvest than in previous vintages, leading the estate to adjust the proportions of its blend for this specific year.
Winemaking and aging
The production of the Tinus Grand Blanc Plateau de l'Aigle 2024 is based on a rigorous selection, using exclusively the first press juices. Chardonnay and viognier ferment and age in oak barrels (25 to 40% new oak) for about eight months. The chardonnay then continues its aging in concrete vats on fine lees for ten months. Meanwhile, the roussanne is vinified and aged separately in concrete vats on fine lees to protect it from oxidation, before the final blending.
Grape varieties
This wine is a blend of chardonnay, roussanne, and viognier.
