An exceptional Italian Vermentino from Sardinia by Argiolas
The estate
Founded in 1938 in Sardinia, Argiolas stands as the pioneer of quality Sardinian winegrowing. Now led by Franco and Giuseppe, third-generation family members, the estate cultivates 230 hectares of vines in the south of the island, around Serdiana. Its collaboration with the legendary oenologist Giacomo Tachis in the 1980s revolutionised local production. Showcasing exclusively native Sardinian grape varieties, this Italian estate has earned international recognition with its iconic Turriga and Korem cuvées.
The vineyard
This Vermentino di Sardegna comes from the eponymous estate located in Selegas. The Vermentino vines thrive on clay-limestone soils with a calcareous and clayey structure, benefiting from a favourable granulometry and excellent sun exposure. The Mediterranean climate, characterised by mild winters, limited rainfall and very hot, windy summers, gives the grapes their unique character.
Vinification and ageing
The harvest is carried out by hand in the early hours of the morning. The making of Is Argiolas Vermentino 2025 begins with a meticulous selection of the bunches. Only the first-press juice is used, following a very gentle pressing. The must is cooled to between 10 and 12°C for natural settling. Fermentation takes place exclusively with indigenous yeasts at a controlled temperature of between 16 and 17°C for 25 to 30 days. This Sardinian wine then rests on fine lees for 40 to 60 days in stainless steel tanks, thereby developing its aromatic complexity.
