Blason d'Issan 2022

Quiet, noble, fresh, with dark fruit and floral notes; silky palate, medium body, elegant, with precise tannins and very good length. Will be enjoyable early, yet has reserves.

Beautiful aromatics, fresh and floral dark blackcurrant fruit, milk chocolate. Intensely concentrated, with a real bite to the fruit and powdery, firm, filling tannins. Gorgeous mouthfeel, fresh yet straight and tense, keeping focus and direction. You can tell this has been well worked, with balanced ripeness and acidity. Nicely focused and detailed, juicy and concentrated with purity and strength. Impressive and persistent. This will be great in 5–10 years. 1% PV planted in 1982. 14% press wine. Percentage of production: 46%. Total acidity: 3.62. 35% new barrels. pH 3.60.

A velvety and fresh wine with silky tannins that flow across the palate. It's medium-bodied with an impression of crunchiness. Creamy texture. Zesty, flavorful finish. Very approachable now but better in two or three years. Second wine of d'Issan. 44% cabernet sauvignon, 55% merlot and 1% petit verdot.

The 2022 Blason d'Issan is a delight. Soft, supple and inviting, this seductive Margaux will drink well right out of the gate. Blue/purplish fruit, lavender, sage and mint all grace the gentle, open-knit finish.

Combine tobacco leaves with sweet, dark cherries and you get the perfume. The palate, with its soft-textured fruit, is perfect for enjoyment in its youth. Give the wine just a bit of time to soften and it will be even better for near-term drinking while waiting for the Grand Vin to develop. The wine blends 55% Merlot, 44% Cabernet Sauvignon and 1% Petit Verdot. Drink from 2025–2037.

Dark ruby, purple reflections, ochre rim. Notes of cloves, ripe cherries, a touch of vanilla and candied orange zest. Medium body, red forest berries, fresh, fine tannins, lively, appears light-footed, mineral finish, already accessible, a versatile food wine.

The second wine of this château, the 2022 Blason D'Issan is based on 55% Merlot, 44% Cabernet Sauvignon, and 1% Petit Verdot that was raised in 35% new oak. It has a terrific nose of ripe red and black currants, leafy herbs, damp earth, and tobacco. This carries to a medium-bodied 2022 with plenty of fruit, a round, lush mouthfeel, and a great finish. It will evolve nicely for 15 years or more.

Intense spice here, turmeric and dark chocolate, blackcurrant and bilberry fruit, personality and poise, a lovely second wine. Harvested September 15 to 28. Yield of 30 hl/ha, pH 3.6. Tannin index of 70 IPT, 35% new oak.

A divine burst of delicate, fresh flowers combines with ripe fruit and mocha aromas on a delicious, charming nose. The palate is a delight, with generous, indulgent notes, fresh, carried by a very lovely, fine and silky grain. Everything you expect from a second wine.

A great deal of finesse and even depth in the bouquet of Blason d’Issan, with a compelling symbiosis between spicy, fruity and floral nuances over a backdrop tinged with notes from ageing. With good density, the wine boasts fine tannins and a refreshing structure. Perfectly balanced, it can be enjoyed in its youth, but its ageing potential is more than respectable. A fine success!

Black color. Intense, delicate, fruity, pure, ripe, fresh, smooth nose. Melting on entry, the wine unfolds juicy, with a silky touch, a fragrant and flavorful body. Beautiful return of aroma on the finish, which raises the score even further. Blend: 55% merlot, 44% cabernet sauvignon, 1% petit verdot. Alcohol: 14.55% - pH: 3.60. IPT: 70. Yield: 30 hl/ha.
