Bruno Paillard : N.P.U. "Nec Plus Ultra" Rosé 2009

Disgorged in April 2023 and set to be released in November, the 2009 Champagne Néc Plus Ultra Rosé is bright salmon pink and beautifully elegant. It has a silky texture and is medium- to full-bodied. Sourced exclusively from grand crus and barrel fermentation, the oak simply lends a supple feel. A portion of the Pinot Noir undergoes maceration; the final blend includes just 0.5% red wine. The palate is long and precise, with pastry, red berries, rhubarb, pretty grapefruit and floral notes, along with an ultra-fine mousse and a delicate touch of spice. It can age for another couple of decades with no problem. It’s very pretty on the palate, yet also reveals a subtle note of fresh cream or croissant dough. Drink 2025–2040.
