Description
A Saint-Émilion Premier Grand Cru Classé with remarkable aromatic depth
The estate
Château Beau-Séjour Bécot, located in Saint-Émilion, dates back to Gallo-Roman times. Founded in 1787 by General Jacques de Carles, the wine estate was acquired by Michel Bécot in 1969. It is currently run by his sons, Gérard and Dominique.
The vineyard
The vineyard covers 15.5 hectares on the western plateau of Saint-Émilion. The vines, with an average age of 29 years, are planted on a clay-limestone terroir with starfish limestone, which gives the wines their distinctive minerality and exceptional ageing potential.
Winemaking and ageing
Hand-harvested grapes, followed by plot-by-plot vinification. Maceration lasts around 35 days, with gentle, infusion-style extraction. Aged in barrels (51% new, 13% one-year-old), in 20 hl foudres (32%) and in amphorae (4%).
Blend
This Château Beau-Séjour Bécot 2024 is a blend of Merlot (78%) and Cabernet Franc (22%).
