The estate

Founded in 1749 when it passed into the hands of the eponymous Irish family, Château Lynch-Bages is a true icon of Bordeaux. This fifth growth has established itself as an essential benchmark, recognised for rivalling the very greatest. Owned by the Cazes family since 1939, the estate is now run by Jean-Charles Cazes. Spanning just over a hundred hectares, the property masterfully combines historical tradition with technical modernity, embodying values of excellence and innovation while preserving its rich plant heritage.

The vineyard

Located on the outskirts of the village of Pauillac, the vineyard flourishes on the famous Bages plateau. The vines benefit from a superb mound of deep Garonne gravel resting on a subsoil of marl and limestone. This privileged geographical setting, close to the Gironde estuary, offers a temperate oceanic climate ideal for the ripening of the berries. The estate practises sustainable viticulture, with particular attention paid to massal selection to preserve the old vines, some of which reach ninety years of age. The harvest is carried out by hand with rigorous sorting.

The case

This limited edition brings together three great vintages illustrating the evolution of the estate's style over three decades. The 1996 vintage, marked by very favourable harvest and ripening conditions, offers remarkable balance and complexity. The 2006 vintage stands out for its classicism and great maturity. Finally, the 2016 vintage reveals exceptional concentration combined with lovely freshness, bearing the signature of a magisterial vintage.
