A complex and elegant Vin de France
The estate
Malherbe occupies a unique 25-hectare preserved terroir on the edge of the Mediterranean Sea, close to Cap Bénat, the Fort de Brégançon and the Pointe du Diable. For four generations, the Ferrari family has passionately tended these lands, which comprise two distinct terroirs that give rise to two ranges of wines: "Malherbe" and "Pointe du Diable". The "Malherbe" range, from a clay-schist terroir, offers full-bodied, sun-drenched wines for ageing, marked by pronounced minerality. The "Pointe du Diable" range, located along the coastline on sandy soil enriched with quartz, produces fine, elegant wines with a refreshing saline note thanks to the influence of the sea breezes.
The vintage
The 2022 vintage was marked by favourable climatic conditions, allowing optimal ripening of the grapes. The hand harvest took place in mid-September, in ideal conditions.
Winemaking
Winemaking begins with a short maceration, during which punching down is carried out, followed by free-run juice drawing off and careful pressing. Fermentation takes place with natural yeasts and is completed by malolactic fermentation to improve the wine's drinkability. This Vin de France is then aged for 10 months in Burgundy barrels.
