Description

Characteristics and Tasting Tips for Madame Ferrari 2023 by Malherbe

Tasting

Colour
The wine reveals a light, brilliant ruby hue that is almost translucent.

Nose
Complex and intensely floral, the bouquet releases fragrances of rose and tuberose, harmoniously blended with aromas of red fruits, cherry and blood orange. Subtle notes of garrigue and eucalyptus complete this aromatic palette.

Palate
Racy and elegant, the palate charms with its generous character and tangy profile built around crisp red fruits. It is carried by remarkable minerality and a mouthwatering freshness that is distinctly maritime.

Food and Wine Pairing
This cuvée pairs wonderfully with meaty fish, grilled red meats, fine charcuterie or even chocolate desserts.

Serving and Cellaring
To fully enjoy Madame Ferrari 2023, we recommend serving it at a temperature between 13 and 15°C.

The Freshness of a Red Wine Crafted by Malherbe

The Estate
Malherbe is a family-run estate whose creation as a modern wine-growing operation dates back to 1964. Spanning 25 hectares along the Mediterranean Sea, this historic terroir is now run by Sébastien Ferrari, who represents the fourth generation. Deeply committed to respecting the environment, the estate stands out for its pioneering approach, with organic certification and biodynamic farming. The vineyard enjoys an exceptional position facing the Fort de Brégançon, producing distinctive wines that combine maritime freshness and complexity.

The Vineyard
This Vin de France comes from a unique coastal terroir located on the western foothills of Cap Bénat. The estate's oldest vines thrive on well-drained slopes made up of silvery schist and brown-red clay. Subject to a hot Mediterranean climate and significant water stress, the vineyard benefits from the moderating influence of sea breezes. Farmed according to biodynamic principles, the estate favours naturally limited yields and keeps its soils alive thanks to cover crops laid down as mulch and the use of natural preparations.

Vinification and Ageing
Conceived as an unconventional red, the Madame Ferrari 2023 cuvée is crafted using methods inspired by Burgundian tradition. The grapes are exclusively hand-harvested. Vinification is carried out with whole bunches, a short maceration, foot punch-downs and gentle pressing. Fermentations take place with indigenous yeasts, followed by malolactic fermentation to add drinkability. Ageing continues for ten months in multi-vintage Burgundy barrels.

Grape Varieties
The typical blend of this cuvée comprises 25% Mourvèdre, 25% Grenache, 25% Cinsault and 25% Rolle.
