Vinum

Very dark color, dark-fruited aromatics; blackberry, cassis, also dark chocolate; on the palate, generous fruit, crisp acidity, showing energy and freshness, noticeable extraction, precise use of oak; long-lasting, fresh. A powerful Marquis de Terme.

Wine Spectator

James Molesworth

Lush in its fruit, with waves of dark currant and blackberry reduction, this also shows form thanks to alder, tobacco and savory accents providing cut, while rose hip and dried violet notes add lift. Offers a long, smoldering finish. Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Petit Verdot. Best from 2026 through 2040. 10,000 cases made.

Decanter

Deep aromatics of blackcurrant, chocolate and tobacco. Supple and lively. Lovely layering of fleshy fruit, grippy and chalky tannins and soft spice - liquorice, clove, crushed stones, cedar and vanilla. Something very alluring about this. Massy in texture, yet the fruit and acidity flavours expand vertically creating an expansive mouthfeel with lots of elegance, lift and openness. Will be easy to enjoy with undercurrants of power and thrust after the tannins have softened and melted into the frame a bit more.

James Suckling

Blackberries and pencil shavings with blueberries and dark chocolate follow through to a medium body with a solid core of pretty fruit and a polished and refined palate. The tannin structure is very impressive, yet there is an underlying freshness. Drink after 2027.

The 2022 Marquis de Terme feels just a little simplistic compared to its peers. Fine delineation, though I would have liked more personality. The palate is medium-bodied with a sapid entry, chewy and a bit forced on the finish. The 2023 and 2024 Marquis de Terme are better. Tasted blind at the Southwold tasting in London.

Blackberries, mint, flowers, and cherries pop on the nose. The palate is bright, crisp, and tannic, with a high-toned fruit character on the back end. This will take a bit of time to become fun to drink. Drink from 2028–2050.

Based on 55% Cabernet Sauvignon, 39% Merlot, and the rest Petit Verdot, the 2022 Château Marquis De Terme is brilliant stuff, with a richly textured, concentrated, medium- to full-bodied style. Ripe darker currants, scorched earth, graphite, and lead pencil nuances all define the aromatics, and it’s balanced, with a pure, layered mouthfeel and ripe tannins. It ranks with the finest vintages of this cuvée to date. Give bottles 3–5 years and enjoy over the following two decades or more.

Weinwisser

Delicate bouquet of red and blue berries, hints of dried lilac, Szechuan pepper and graphite. On the palate, compact and well-structured, with a silky texture, fine-grained extract, supporting freshness, a (too) taut profile and a very tight-knit tannic framework. The concentrated finish shows small black berries, dark minerality and very crumbly astringency paired with gentle bitterness, rounded off.

Intense and concentrated, showcasing the impressive quality potential of the 2022 vintage. Unusual also to see a 13% wine in this vintage, reflecting the regularity of these soils. It's good, very much on the luscious side of the lineup, with black chocolate, pomegranate, damson and fleshy black cherry, given restraint by clips of mint leaf, violet, lavender, pink peppercorn, slate and graphite. Delicious. 50% new oak for ageing, Diam cork, Julien Viaud consultant. This is a higher score than my En Primeur note, often the case in bigger vintages when doing an estate vertical, but also reflects how well this wine is bedding in and opening up with a few years in bottle. Ludovic David director. Julien Viaud of Rolland & Associés winemaking consultant.

Le Figaro Vin

Hedonistic and flamboyant, the nose reveals an entrancing richness, blending ripe fruit and chocolate. On the palate, it captivates with its fluidity, savoriness, and dynamism: a true dance across the palate. Generous and radiant right through to the final note.

Jean-Marc Quarin

A deeply colored wine, with an intense, pure and fruity nose that beautifully evokes Merlot aged in new oak. The palate is round, very fruity and pleasant, but not very well-structured. Average length.

This classed growth estate has produced a balanced, fruity wine. Juicy and full of black currant fruits, with a crushed blackberry aroma, its straightforward blend of 60% Cabernet Sauvignon and 40% Merlot gives a wine with intensity and concentration. Drink this wine from 2029.
