Description
A limited edition case celebrating 100 years of history
The estate
Founded in 1924 by Jean-Baptiste Audy, Clos du Clocher is today owned by the Bourotte family, direct descendants of the founder. The estate stands out due to its proximity to the Pomerol church, which gives it its name.
The vineyard
Situated on the prestigious Pomerol plateau, the vineyard covers 5.76 hectares in the heart of the Pomerol plateau. This vineyard, averaging 37 years of age, is characterized by its blue clay, gravel and clay soils. This mosaic of soils imparts richness and complexity to the wine.
The wine
2024 celebrates the 100th anniversary of this family estate. For this occasion, the packaging features a neck label identical to that of 1924 or 1947.
The estate is also unveiling a limited edition case containing several formats of Clos du Clocher 2024 (1 Double Magnum / 1 Magnum / 2 Bottles), the book "Héritage" retracing 100 years of family history in the heart of Pomerol, as well as a certificate of authenticity.
Winemaking and aging
Harvested by hand, the grapes are rigorously sorted before being vinified plot by plot in concrete and stainless steel vats, except for less than 10% of the harvest, which is vinified in barrels. Aging takes place for 18 months in French oak barrels, including 50% new wood and 40% one-wine barrels, completed by a period in small vats (5% glass and 5% concrete).
Blend
Clos du Clocher 2024 comprises 75% Merlot and 25% Cabernet Franc.
