Description
Characteristics and tasting notes of the Montlouis-sur-Loire 2024 Domaine de la Taille Aux Loups
Tasting
Colour
The colour reveals a brilliant white hue.
Nose
The bouquet reveals a lovely freshness, intensely marked by citrus notes and subtle iodine touches.
Palate
Both round and full of energy, the palate offers a seductive fruity character with underlying exotic nuances. It unfolds aromas of nectarine, pear and candied grapefruit, enhanced by a hint of melting asparagus and gentle spices from the oak. The finish lingers on delicate, elegant bitter notes.
Food and wine pairing
This white wine pairs wonderfully with richly prepared fish in sauce, delicate seafood, white meats or fine charcuterie.
Service and storage
To release its full aromatic complexity, it is recommended to decant this Montlouis-sur-Loire 2024 before serving it at a temperature of between 12 and 13°C. It can be enjoyed from 2026 and will continue to evolve favourably in the cellar until around 2038.
Other characteristics
This wine stands out for its distinctly dry profile, crafted without any added residual sugar. It underwent no malolactic conversion and was only very minimally filtered in order to preserve the full purity of its aromas.
The elegance and precision of a great white wine from Montlouis-sur-Loire
The estate
Founded in the late 1980s by Jacky Blot, the Domaine de la Taille Aux Loups is an essential reference in the Loire Valley. Now run by his son, Jean-Philippe Blot, the estate spans some forty hectares certified organic. The domaine has built an immense reputation thanks to a minimal-intervention philosophy and meticulous plot-by-plot work, seeking to reveal the purest expression of its terroirs through wines of remarkable precision and longevity.
The vineyard
Located within the Montlouis-sur-Loire appellation, the vineyard rests on magnificent terroirs composed of flint clay and limestone. The vines, averaging more than fifty years of age, benefit from an ideal exposure and are cultivated with the utmost respect for the environment. Yields are deliberately kept low to concentrate the quality of the berries, which are hand-harvested through successive sorting passes.
Winemaking and aging
The winemaking of this Montlouis-sur-Loire 2024 draws on traditional methods, with slow fermentation in wooden barrels preceded by a light oxygenation of the musts. Aging takes place over eighteen months in barrels, a quarter of which are new oak and the rest one- to three-wine barrels, with almost no bâtonnage.
