Description

Characteristics and Tasting Notes for the Chambolle-Musigny 1er Cru "Les Amoureuses" 2022 Domaine Faiveley

Tasting

Colour
This wine reveals a magnificent, intense ruby red colour. Clear and brilliant, this hue reveals luminous highlights that herald a superb evolution.

Nose
The bouquet opens with great aromatic complexity, dominated by fresh red fruits such as raspberry and blackcurrant, underscored by a fine chalky minerality. With aeration, delicate floral notes of peony, rose and violet emerge, promising to evolve towards spicy nuances, plum or truffle over time.

Palate
The attack is harmonious, offering a perfect balance between vibrant acidity and tannins of great delicacy. The concentrated mid-palate recalls red fruits, coating the palate with a silky texture. The finish, long and of rare elegance, extends into a remarkable mineral persistence.

Food and Wine Pairing

This cuvée pairs wonderfully with refined white meats such as roasted veal chop with wild mushrooms or herb-roasted poultry. It will also enhance light game such as partridge, dishes with woodland accents such as porcini risotto, or soft cow's milk cheeses such as Brillat-Savarin or Chaource.

Service and Storage

With exceptional aging potential, this 2022 vintage can be cellared for many years to fully reveal its complexity.

The Pure Expression of Chambolle-Musigny Terroir by Domaine Faiveley

The Estate

Founded in 1825 in Nuits-Saint-Georges, Domaine Faiveley is a true institution in Burgundy. With a vineyard spanning more than 120 hectares, from the Côte de Nuits to the Côte Chalonnaise via Chablis, it illustrates the richness of the region's terroirs. Today, the seventh generation, embodied by Erwan and Eve Faiveley, leads the estate with a vision combining respect for tradition and modernity. Committed to a strong environmental approach, the estate stands out for its conversion to organic farming, aiming to express the utmost purity of its climats.

The Vineyard

The climat of Chambolle-Musigny 1er Cru Les Amoureuses covers just over 5 hectares in the heart of the Côte de Nuits. The estate's plot, ideally located on the mid-slope, benefits from a south-southeast exposure at an altitude of between 240 and 280 metres. The vines thrive on shallow soils composed of sand, gravel and red clay, resting on a bedrock of Jurassic limestone. This unique geology forces the roots to dig deep, giving the wine its signature minerality.

The Vintage

The year 2022 began with a cold winter followed by early budbreak. Flowering took place quickly at the end of May. Summer proved hot and dry, but the vines benefited from welcome rainfall during two storms in June, followed by light precipitation in July and mid-August. This timely moisture prevented any stress to the plant, leading to a harvest at the end of August under optimal conditions.

Winemaking and Aging

For this wine, the berries are harvested and hand-sorted. Fermentation takes place in temperature-controlled oak foudres over some twenty days, followed by careful maceration. After gravity racking and gentle pressing, the wine is aged in French oak barrels for 14 to 18 months. The use of new oak, selected for its fine grain and moderate toasting, is limited to between 20 and 30% to preserve the brightness of the fruit.
