This Côte-Rôtie Lieu-Dit Côte-Bodin 2023 has an ageing potential of over twenty years.
The elegance of a great schist terroir in the Rhône Valley
The estate
Founded in 2015, Domaine Graeme & Julie Bott is the result of the passionate work of its current owners, Graeme and Julie Bott. Starting from scratch, they patiently cleared and replanted steep hillsides to build a vineyard that today extends over 12 hectares. Located in the heart of the northern Rhône Valley, this estate has quickly established itself among the region's most essential signatures. Domaine Graeme & Julie Bott stands out for its artisanal approach, meticulous viticulture and a fierce determination to let the geological identity of each plot express itself.
The vineyard
This Côte-Rôtie comes from the famous lieu-dit of the Côte Brune, characterised by its dizzying slopes and its dark micaschist soils. The vines, aged between 40 and 45 years, draw their strength from deep within the earth. The work is carried out entirely by hand, respecting the principles of organic farming. The vines are trained on stakes, with Guyot Poussard pruning to preserve their longevity. The soils benefit from cover cropping and the absence of deep ploughing in order to protect biodiversity and microbial life.
Vinification and ageing
The harvest of the Lieu-Dit Côte-Bodin 2023 is fully destemmed before beginning its fermentation with indigenous yeasts in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks. Ageing then takes place over a period of 20 months in third- and fourth-use French oak barrels, a deliberate choice excluding new wood to preserve aromatic purity. Finally, this wine rests for an additional year in bottle in the estate's cellars before being released.
Grape variety
100% Syrah.
