Description

Characteristics and tasting notes of the Meursault 1er Cru "Perrières" 2024 from Domaine Michel Bouzereau et Fils

Tasting notes

Nose
The aromatic bouquet opens on an omnipresent minerality, strongly marked by hints of gunflint and struck flint. It then reveals delicate, precise notes of yellow lemon, accompanied by floral touches reminiscent of honeysuckle and lime blossom.

Palate
The attack is straight and powerful, revealing a dense texture underpinned by vibrant acidity. This cuvée shines through its verticality and energy. The seemingly endless finish offers a remarkable salinity over notes of chalk and lemon, rounded off by very discreet oak and subtle nuances of roasted hazelnuts.

Food and wine pairings
This great white wine is a wonderful match for seafood. It pairs beautifully with line-caught sea bass carpaccio, shellfish such as lobster, or fine fish just seared in the oven. It will also create an exceptional gastronomic pairing with delicate offal such as veal sweetbreads.

Serving and cellaring
To fully appreciate the complexity of this wine, it is recommended to serve it at a temperature between 12 and 14°C. Built to age thanks to its acidic, saline backbone, this wine for long cellaring can be kept and enjoyed until around 2039.

The mineral elegance of a great Meursault Chardonnay by Domaine Michel Bouzereau et Fils

The estate
Located in the heart of Burgundy, Domaine Michel Bouzereau et Fils is a leading name of the appellation. Although the family has been growing vines for seven generations, the estate took on its current form and name when it was passed down in 1999. Today, Jean-Baptiste Bouzereau runs this roughly 12-hectare vineyard with remarkable rigor. The estate stands out for its organic and biodynamic practices, producing white wines of great purity. The brand's reputation rests on its ability to faithfully express the richness of the local terroirs.

The vineyard
Widely regarded as the unofficial grand cru of Meursault, the climat of Perrières offers an exceptional terroir. The 0.46-hectare micro-plot worked by the estate lies on a very stony clay-limestone soil, made up of decomposed marl and outcropping bedrock. The vines, grown according to organic and biodynamic principles, were planted in 1939, 1956 and 2005, forcing the plant to draw deep into this poor soil to give the grapes a unique concentration.

Winemaking and aging
The making of this 2024 vintage begins with fermentation carried out by indigenous yeasts. The wine is then aged on the lees for 16 to 18 months in oak barrels, 30% of which are new, before finishing its maturation in stainless steel tanks to stabilize the wine while preserving its tension and aromatic purity.
