Description
Characteristics and Tasting Notes of the Domaine Ogereau Blanc de Blancs 2022
Tasting
Colour
The colour reveals a pale yellow hue, enhanced by a fine, persistent string of bubbles.
Nose
The nose opens with primary aromas of green apple, citrus, and delicate floral touches. Subtle notes of brioche, almond, and toasted bread, resulting from its extended aging, enrich this complex bouquet.
Palate
On the palate, this sparkling wine stands out for its vibrant tension and lovely freshness. The elegant texture is underpinned by a very pure mineral backbone, typical of its terroir. The long, refined finish leaves lingering flavours of citrus and hazelnut.
Food and wine pairing
Ideal as an aperitif, this wine pairs wonderfully with seafood such as oysters or scallops. It also goes very well with aged hard cheeses like Comté or Beaufort, gougères, as well as Japanese dishes such as sushi or simply roasted white meats.
Service and storage
For an optimal tasting experience, it is recommended to serve this Blanc de Blancs 2022 chilled at a temperature between 8 and 10°C. This wine can be enjoyed now and can be kept until around 2026.
Other characteristics
This sparkling wine stands out for its minimal dosage, giving it a decidedly dry profile that highlights the purity of its terroir and the natural concentration of the grapes.
The elegance and minerality of a great Crémant de Loire from Domaine Ogereau
The estate
Founded at the end of the 1890s, Domaine Ogereau is a family-owned estate located in Saint-Lambert-du-Lattay, at the heart of Anjou in the Loire valley. Today, the estate is jointly run by Vincent Ogereau and his son Emmanuel, who embody the passing down of ancestral know-how. Spanning a human-scale vineyard, the estate is renowned for its environmentally respectful approach and its mastery of schist terroirs. The estate was also recognised for its excellence, having been named Winemaker of the Year for the region in 2026.
The vineyard
The grapes destined for this Crémant de Loire come from a vineyard cultivated according to the principles of organic and biodynamic farming. The vines flourish on dark soils composed of schist and sandstone, benefiting from a cool, misty microclimate. The estate favours virtuous practices such as cover cropping, manual bud thinning, and eco-grazing with sheep to preserve biodiversity and soil vitality.
The vintage
The year 2022 was marked by warm temperatures favouring early ripening. Rainfall at the end of August and beginning of September helped to temper this growing cycle, resulting in grapes of excellent concentration. These mild weather conditions, combined with low disease pressure, were particularly favourable to the management of the vineyard.
Winemaking and aging
The winemaking of this Blanc de Blancs 2022 follows the traditional method with a minimal-intervention approach. After whole-bunch pressing and static settling, fermentation is triggered by indigenous yeasts. The wine is then aged in various vessels such as concrete tanks, concrete eggs, amphorae, or large oak casks. The bottle fermentation is followed by extended aging on the lees for 18 months, well beyond the appellation's requirements, before a light filtration.
