Description

Characteristics and tasting notes for the Meursault 1er Cru "Perrières" 2023 Domaine Pierre Morey

Tasting notes

Colour
The colour reveals a pale yellow hue verging on gold, illuminated by subtle green-gold highlights.

Nose
Complex and mineral, the nose exudes aromas of white flowers and fresh fruit such as white peach and pear. Delicate notes of toasted hazelnut and a touch of gunflint complete this bouquet.

Palate
Wonderfully concentrated, the palate offers a rich, unctuous texture, perfectly balanced by vibrant acidity. Flavours of stone fruit and citrus intertwine with fine mineral nuances, extending into a long, chiselled finish of great purity.

Service and storage

Built for long ageing, this great white wine will reveal its full complexity over time and can be enjoyed until around 2043.

Food and wine pairing

Ideal with refined dishes, this wine pairs wonderfully with shellfish such as grilled lobster or langoustines. It also accompanies white meats in creamy sauces with great success, as well as full-flavoured cheeses.

The mineral elegance and purity of a great white Burgundy

The estate

Founded in 1971 by Pierre Morey, Domaine Pierre Morey is a key reference in Burgundy. Spanning around ten hectares of vineyards, the estate stands out for its pioneering commitment to the environment, having obtained biodynamic certification as early as 1997. Today, Anne Morey leads the estate. She passionately upholds the family philosophy, centred on respect for the terroir and minimal cellar intervention, in order to produce wines of great authenticity.

The vineyard

This cuvée comes from the prestigious climat of Perrières, located on the upper slopes of the Meursault appellation. Facing south-east, the vines thrive on a very stony, shallow terroir resting on a bedrock of hard limestone and clay. This distinctive geology gives the grapes an exceptional minerality.

The vintage

The year began with a mild, dry winter, followed by a cool spring that slowed the vegetative cycle. The warmth of June then brought about strong vine growth. After a rainy start to August, summer temperatures set in from the end of the month, accelerating ripening. The harvest yielded wonderfully generous berries, preserving an unexpected balance.

Winemaking and ageing

The hand-picked grapes undergo rigorous sorting followed by very gentle pneumatic pressing. Fermentation begins naturally thanks to indigenous yeasts, in oak barrels. Ageing continues for 16 to 20 months, with regular lees stirring to nourish the wine on its fine lees.

Grape variety

Chardonnay (100%).
