Characteristics and tasting notes of the Puligny-Montrachet Village 2024 by Jean Chartron

Tasting

Appearance
Displaying a bright pale-yellow hue, this wine reveals subtle green highlights typical of its terroir.

Nose
The bouquet unveils a beautiful aromatic complexity, blending notes of citrus and white flowers with aromas of exotic fruits such as passion fruit and kiwi. Delicate mineral, floral and slightly smoky touches round off the whole.

Palate
The attack offers a rich and creamy texture, perfectly balanced by fresh, vibrant acidity. The fruity concentration stretches towards a structured and elegant finish.

Food and wine pairings

This wine pairs wonderfully with fish in white sauce, roast poultry with cream and mushrooms, or vegetarian dishes such as an asparagus risotto. As for cheeses, it enhances a Brie, a Camembert or matured soft cheeses from the region.

Serving and cellaring

This Puligny-Montrachet Village 2024 reveals a fine ageing potential and can be enjoyed until around 2039.

Other characteristics

Offered en primeur, this wine will be available for delivery in early 2027.

The elegance and minerality of a white wine from Puligny-Montrachet crafted by Jean Chartron

The estate

Founded in 1859 in France by Jean-Edouard Dupard, the Domaine Jean Chartron is a historic figure of Burgundy. Indeed, it was its founder, then mayor of the village, who was behind the association of the name Puligny with the famous Montrachet cru in 1873. Today, the fifth generation, embodied by Jean-Michel and Anne-Laure Chartron, leads the estate. Tending a vineyard of around 14 hectares, the family estate stands out for its deep commitment to the authentic expression of its terroirs, producing white wines of great precision.

The vineyard

The vines of this Puligny-Montrachet, averaging forty years of age, thrive on soils rich in limestone, alternating with marls and clays. Located at an altitude ranging between 230 and 320 metres, the vineyard benefits from a continental climate and an ideal east and south-east exposure. Vineyard management is oriented towards environmentally respectful practices, drawing inspiration from biodynamics while maintaining a pragmatic approach to preserve the health of the plant.

The vintage

The 2024 vintage proved particularly demanding, marked by complex weather conditions that led to a late ripening of the berries. Despite yields sharply down compared to the previous year, this difficult growing cycle allowed the juices to concentrate, giving rise to grapes of great quality.

Winemaking and ageing

The making of this Puligny-Montrachet Village 2024 is based on a precise technical philosophy aimed at enhancing the terroir. The juices, extracted with great cleanliness and a minimum of lees during pressing, are subject to rigorous monitoring. Fermentation is meticulously controlled, with yeast inoculation if necessary, in order to guarantee a perfect balance and optimal aromatic expression.

Grape variety

100% Chardonnay.
